No Time To Blog

Dissertation deadline looms. Twenty to forty thousand words by the middle of September. Okay, that’s a long way away still, but I’ve got children breaking up from school and a holiday in Portugal to be cracking on with.  Not to mention a critical essay and research into a publishing house for a presentation to class.

But, honestly, why sweat?  I’ve written thirty-five thousand words and my tutor says they’re not half bad.  The thing is, I really want to make those words the very best they can be.  And that means a whole lot of slog.  And no time to blog.

So here’s a blog that won’t eat into my time. What follows is a selection of pictures that relate to my work in progress so far.  Visual snippets.  In no particular order. They are not meant to tell the story. Just to provide a little soupcon. (Although if anyone has any ideas what the story might be, I’d love to hear them!)

I have no guesses to what the story might be about… but I really enjoyed looking at the visual soupçon anyway! It’s an inspiring idea. I think I might start a pinboard on Pinterest for images that relate to my own novel-in-progress.

Good luck with making those words amazing!

Yes, Katie, as I did this I thought this should really be on Pinterest. I have an account, but haven’t started any pinboards yet and I don’t think I will till after the deadline. Let me know when you’ve put yours up though.

How tantalizing!! Am intrigued as to how you’ve woven all those topics together, & worryingly, fancy a crispy pancake now!

  4. claudia says:

Mmm, crispy pancakes! I’m hoping I HAVE woven all this together somehow, as it looks a bit mind boggling even to me!

  5. Hey this looks interesting – but I wanted to read even before.
Like the bookshelf on the blog also (do wordpress have that, I wonder?)

  6. claudia says:

Hi Lane, this is a wordpress site. The bookshelf is just a widget from Goodreads which unfortunately doesn’t automatically update. Really enjoyed your story on your site.

Ooh I have a tumblr for my novel! You should make one, or a pinterest. I love these pics, very evocative.

Also, the critical essay is gonna be a breeze, it’ll just be like “THIS IS WHY WRITING A NOVEL IS HARD.” At least I’m sure that’s what mine’s gonna be. I haven’t even started revising, that’ll happen next month. :s

Hi Meg. Next month is a wash out for me, hence the panic. I enjoyed finding these pictures though and if I didn’t know what the novel was about, I think they’d spark my curiosity, so that’s a good sign! Will have to take a look at yours on tumblr.
