Blog Award

I am honoured and flattered to have been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by the inspirational Lesley Richardson. You can find her standing naked at a bus stop here

The rules of acceptance are that I nominate fifteen other favourite bloggers of mine (fifteen – that’s a lot!)  That I display the award logo.

And that I  divulge seven things about myself that haven’t been aired previously in cyberspace.

Please bear in mind that I am trying to channel my energies right now into writing a novel (argh!) and meeting a dissertation deadline (double argh!).  So I’ve not given myself too much time to think about this.

Here are my seven facts:

  1. I hate changing the bed sheets.
  2. My children make fun of me on account of my little toe nail.
  3. A part of me never recovered after the 1980s American Yuppie TV series Thirty Something came to an end.
  4. My dreams are mostly twisted, disturbing and exhausting (I’m wondering now if this might be related to point 1).
  5. The thing I find most difficult to tolerate in other people is when they talk incessantly.
  6. I almost turned down a free trip to New York on Concorde with a week-long stay in a 5-star Manhattan Hotel because it clashed with a clarinet exam.
  7. I was the worst barmaid ever.

And here are my nominated bloggers:

Gorgeous and geeky, Meg is writing a manner punk novel and suffering for her art

Gorgeous and freaky, Lucy is writing a novel about people who have no manners at all

Katie Anderson has a typewriter which, like me, she doesn’t use.  She knows how to use a keyboard  though

I get the feeling from Anna Smith’s blog that she is an elegant, intelligent writer who enjoys a high success rate with publishing short stories

Pechorin’s Journal is an unusual entity; a book review website that’s eminently readable

Susan May is recovering from a serious affliction; life-gets-in-the-way-osis

Andrea Cumbo offers sound advice on writing and other reflective stuff

Molly Greene is a cool sage on writing and blogging

Suzannah Windsor runs the Write It Sideways site bursting with great blogs about writing

Regular contributor to above website is Sarah Baughman who blogs in her own right here

Children’s author and fellow Dalton Trumbo admirer, Wendy Storer, has a super funky blog at

She’s neither a Pantser nor a No-Pantser, she’s a 30-Footer; Jenny Herrera explains all at

Janet O’Kane is a chicken keeping crime writer with a twinkle in her eye

Julie Christine is another reviewer of books who has helped me add to my To Read Goodreads list

Author Gary Gauthier has more than one blog to his name and many guest blog appearances on account of his eloquence on all writing matters

To the above recipients: you don’t have to take any action, especially if you have received this award before which I’m sure some will have done. You may simply sit back and feel loved. However, if you do you wish to take part and nominate your own recipients, here are the rules:

1. Display the award logo somewhere on your blog.
2. Link back to the blog of the person who nominated you. (Me!)
3. State seven things about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award and provide links to their blogs.
5. Notify those bloggers that they have been nominated and of the award’s requirements.
